The Society seeks to chronicle, protect and enhance the heritage, character and environment of the Parish of Odiham and North Warnborough.

We publish two journals each year and run speaker evenings on local and interesting topics. At these events members meet and enjoy a glass of wine. Outings and a Christmas evening complete a busy annual programme of events.

A number of exciting projects are always on the go and we welcome volunteers who wish to become involved in serving our members and the community.

1st June: Derek Kearns walk and talk will focus on the Cross Barn and High Street architecture.

Planning News:
Members will be interested and have opinions on the possible development of Neville’s Gap and behind Castle Bridge Cottages, alongside the Basingstoke Canal. The Planning Sub Committee and Executive Committee will discuss this as more becomes known. Notes and links may be viewed on the Planning page of this website.

An application to build on part of this site was dismissed at appeal by the Planning Inspectorate in 1994 mainly because it “would give the immediate area a more urban character” and “would have an adverse effect on the Conservation Area, the character and appearance of which would be neither preserved nor enhanced”.

Membership:
There are still just under 60 of our 2011/2012 members who have not yet renewed their subscriptions and we would be very sad to lose you.
We know that our membership year begins  at a time of year (1st November) when the amount of mail coming through the door increases and things can easily get lost.  If you are not sure whether or not your membership has continued, please contact Ann Plummer, Membership Secretary, who will check for you.  Renewal forms are available on the website.

Vacancies for Enthusiasts:
There are openings for anyone keen to join the Odiham Society planning Sub Committee.
Contact any officer or member of the Executive Committee to help.

Helen Oliver has decided to hand over management of our publications after many years able service.  We are seeking a successor – someone who likes publications, from booklets to notelets.  Please contact an officer to find out more if this interests you.

Magna Carta 2015:
We are in the process of establishing a steering group to progress Magna Carta 2015 in a way that will involve all the Parish of Odiham and North Warnborough, attract relatives, friends and visitors, and make everyone proud.
There is always room for anyone with enthusiasm and interest so please contact John Champion if this appeals to you. Please click here to to see what is planned.
